My Summer in Less than 250 Words

Ok, lets just pretend this huge time lapse didn't happen:)
Highlights this summer....well...Sweden was incredible. I loved every minute. We were in Falsterbo, which is a small summer village as far south as you can go in Sweden. We were at Emma's summer home.  We went to Denmark for a day and went to Tivoli, clubbing in Malmo and Falsterbo, went to the beach. So many great memories.
After Sweden, went to the cottage for the 4th of July. Great to see the fam and have some much needed relax time. Boating, lounging, eating...the usual:)
Back in NYC, finished up filming Thanksgiving Day :P, and went to visit Ryan and April in Baltimore. I LOVE baltimore!! Apes and I went to the Aquarium, and then the next day we went shopping in Fell's Point and saw Crazy Stupid Love. I can't wait to go back!
Then Mom and Apes and Liz came for a visit.     Which was excellent. Tea at the Plaza Hotel, Mamma Mia on Broadway, Jazz night at La Lanterna, church, stroll on Highline, Chelsea Market...it was SO great to spend time with these women I look up to so much.
Now, my friends are slowwwwly starting to return to the city. Wednesday night, Claire and I went and saw a Private performance of Justin Timberlake at Southern Hospitality and then got into the VIP afterparty where we sat across form Amanda Sigfried and JT himself! CRAAAZYY!
And thats about it! And i became a raw vegan!
So yeah! I need to get a job... :S
That was my summer in a nutshell!
Peace, love and veggies...

Its officially JUNE

Well, its officially June, and I'm officially a slacker in the blogging department! SORRY!

But A LOT has happened in the past 2 months...most importantly...RYAN AND APRIL ARE MARRIED!!!! :D Woo! May 21, 2011, Salt Lake City, Utah was the place to be. It was a BEAUTIFUL wedding, and I couldn't be more excited to have April as a sister! Lets just say that both of my brothers married THE COOLEST ladies ever and I have the BEST sisters :D Apparently I'm feeling the need to TYPE IN ALL CAPS tonight...it must be from my lack of sleep.  You see, this afternoon I found a cockroach ON MY BED...yes that is correct...ON my bed....the nerve! soo...I'm not sleeping in my bed tonight, but at my desk...hence the 2:30am post.  Its just a good thing I don't have an audition tomorrow.

Another big thing that happened lately is that I'm going to Sweden at the end of the month to visit Emma! And I am SUPER excited:) I've clearly never been to Sweden before and I'm looking forward to seeing the motherland:) (what??) but yes, I'll be taking notes on the free education and free health care of their glorious country and reporting back...who knows, maybe i'll be the next presidential candidate for 2012.

Apes and Rye are also moving at the end of the month to Baltimore, which is only a short train ride away from the Big Apple.  I obviously plan to overstay my welcome on a regular basis ;) But I digress.  Amy just moved to the city, and I'm really pumped about that.  I'm excited to hang out and have Regents Park take Gotham nightlife by storm :)

But ok, time to start Woody Allen's Manhattan online...that should keep me awake until 4:30.

Exterminators come tomorrow. Hallelujah!

April's April Shower

So its April 9th and I'm sitting on the couch writing from CINCINNATI!! i'm HOME! just for the weekend of course:)
But this weekend has been great! It was April's wedding shower at the Heis' house, hosted by Mrs. Heis and Hayden, and gosh was it fun! It was just the girls (and my dad) this weekend at home. Apes, Liz, my mom and me. So we had the run of the house...wine, old fashioned movies, and the shower today! Its so nice to be home. Its so wonderful to be with my family and sisters:) But, its already back to NYC tomorrow morning. Big auditions this coming week. One callback and another 3rd callback!
The new semester started. I'm taking Hope and George again.
Alright, we'll signing off from the Nasti Nati.

My 4:30am Writing Stint

Here’s to the Dreamers
By Caralyn Collar
It occurred to me yesterday, as I was walking along our city’s beautiful High Line Park, that there is a huge discrepancy at work in our world as we know it.  A gap, a certain unspoken code of eradication for something that lurks deep within our spirits and souls.

Why is it, that when we are young, we can dare to dream of what we will become when we grow old.  When asked, we were quick to spout off, “The President, Astronaut, Firefighter, Pilot, Princess, Movie Star, Detective.” Though we were little in a big big world, there were no limitations to what we could and most certainly would become.  We were driven by an unquenchable curiosity, expanding our horizons, enthusiastic about life.  It was only after growing up, that qualifications came into the picture, and things that we once thought were attainable, were now chalked up to as “out of your league” due to pretentious restrictions.  With a limitless worldview, we held the utmost faith in our dreams, completely confident that they will one day be realized.  Society as we know it, squelched the dreams in our hearts by replacing “what if” with “realistic.”

What child answered the afore question with, “stock broker, insurance representative, or number pusher.” Not that these jobs are not worthy, valuable, or notable, but I’d be willing to bet that somewhere along the line, these people had to set aside their dream and “settle” for “reality.”  Maybe I’m naïve and this is better for social evolution or some other highbrow nonsense, but I’d like to keep my childlike wonder on the world and believe that anything truly is possible.

It doesn’t take any courage to play it safe. Society’s thumb presses us to keep the status quo and not ruffle any feathers with lofty aspirations. I’d like to throw out there that in today’s world, there’s some shaking up that needs to be done.  Looking around New York, I began to think. This town was built by shakers, er, feather rufflers if you will. This global epicenter of art, culture, finance, business, fashion, education, and entertainment was built by immigrants in the 19th century.  All of those founders from all over the world had had the courage to cross the mighty Atlantic, not knowing where they would live, how they would make money, what they would eat.  Their childlike faith propelled them to the other side of the world in search of a better life. Fast forward two centuries, and this booming metropolis is filled with skyscrapers, and the latest technology, elite institutes of learning, and cutting edge innovations, yet roots can still be seen in Little Czechoslovakia, Little Italy, Chinatown, etc. We do not come from a heritage of fainthearted people, why should we waver from the grandeur of our hearts’ desires?

People who dream can change the world.  People who go after their dreams actually do. What’s the rush in “growing up” when it would do a whole lot of good to rewind our brains to think like a child and let our imaginations dictate what we can and want to do? Yes, hard work and perseverance play a role in the outcome of the pursuit; however, I’m willing to bet that a well-nurtured dream yields unparalleled effort and diligence. So here’s to the dreamers. May your dream stay captivating, your ambition resilient, and your passion ablaze.

Hayden Visit!

Well last night was particularly fun:)

Amy and Mrs. Hayden were in the city and met me for a lovely dinner! Amy had an internship interview and so we met up afterwards! It was SO great to see them and catch up. I left with a warm and full heart. Those two women just bring so much joy where ever they go and I had the honor of spending the evening with them! We met at a cute little restaurant down in the West Village called Palma. Its on Cornelia street and is adorable. Our waiter, straight out of Italy, was tall dark and handsome, and doted on us all night:)

Thanks for a great night Hayden ladies! Love you guys!

Ok, well I'm off to the store to get Sudafed to fight a sinus infection:(

Hugs

A Very Merry February

As February draws rapidly to a close, I am reminded of just how blessed I am to be in this city, living out my dreams:) Things don't happen overnight, but I have to believe that I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be.  There are so many things I am thankful for.  Firstly, for the wonderful friends that have been brought into my life here in NY. On that note, 2 of them are about to leave to go back home, and I know that there are great things in store for them back home, and I wish them all the best. Amanda and Vicki, we're going to miss you:) I'm also very thankful for family and friends back home:) Apes, I am so excited that in less than 3 months, you're going be my sister! The wedding is just around the corner, and I couldn't be more stoked!
Well its Saturday and I'm off now to go shopping (well...browsing) on Canal Street...with Amanda and Vicki...if we're lucky, maybe we'll end up in a secret room in the wall of a "Back and Foot Rub" Parlor full of hot Prada:) oh the possibilities.

Lack of Blogging

Wow Feb 2nd! Sorry for my lack of frequency in writing...things have just been too fast paced for words!
Gosh...well lets break it down into work and fun...although the work is fun...so ??? :)
Anywhoo...so several weekends ago, I was a featured extra in a film...The Best Day, where i got to play the main girl's best friend. Pretty much a popular snotty high schooler...too cool for school type...it was kinda fun to play my alter ego:) umm, the next week i had an audition for a TV pilot which is cool...Friends-esk...i thought the audition went well, but i think i was not exactly the "sexy single" they were looking for...i walked in and the guy was like..."you're cute as a button! i want to just pinch your cheecks!"....that was the point i knew i didn't get the job lol...lets see...went to a Actor/Director meet up. handed out a few resumes and business cards...not really anything to report there. BUT this wednesday, i have an audition with an agent from the Gersh Agency which is one of the top bi-coastal talent agencies! SO pumped...tonight i'm competing in a monologue competition, should be fun and good practice, and then tomorrow i have a film shoot...just an extra, but exciting nonetheless.
now onto fun:)
Celebrated several birthdays lately, bar hopping. Last weekend, Alessa had 2 friends in from Austria, so we went out to dinner at this cute little Italian place and stayed there for like 3 hours! and then we went to Slate, a club in Flatiron...really great time! The following night, we celebrated Claire's birthday at Flannery's and our 3$ marg place...3 margs in 15 minutes...yeah it was a fun night:)
Valentine's Day...great day...fell on a monday, so after class, Emma, Alessa and I went to dinner at a cute Italian place in midtown...we were the only non-couple there...haha...at least our male waiter was sympathetic:) but afterwards, we met up with Lisa and Ethan and all went to see "Just Go With It" with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. So it wasn't loney:)
Last night, Tamara had her house warming wine and cheese party at her new place in Queens and Emma and Gabriela and 10 of Tamara's friends from school were there. Introduced them to triple creme brie...wow...it was gone in literally 5 minutes...saying it was a hit would be an understatement!
Afterwards, we went to Public House which is a restaurant by day/club by night kinda deal. Lots of fun. although only got a few hours of sleep, and now i'm a zombie writing this lol. oh well such is life:)
Posting new youtube videos pretty much weekly now so keep checking back! enjoy this 60 degree weather!

Pinch Me, Bieber

Woke up today, just your typical wednesday...went running, submitted to backstage, went on twitter...and then...bam...justin bieber tweeted about a special screening of his Never Say Never movie in NYC that he "hoped spike lee would come to." Well...after some extensive stalker research, I found out the time and place of this screening. For the record...the movie doesn't come out until Feb. 11. The Premiere of the movie is Feb. 9th. THIS, tonight, was a special screening, in nyc, for celebs and people who won a contest.  Well, at 2pm this afternoon i decide, what the h...i'm just going to go, see if i can score a seat in a starbucks window to catch a glimpse of him going in...well...i get there at 4:30...biebs is supposed to arrive at 5:30...there's a barricade up for the VIP line which some girls have started to line up in..." sureeeee, i'm VIP" and i get in line...well, i'm standing in line, waiting to get escorted out by the police who are patrolling the line, when i get to talking to a woman and her daughter and boyfriend. "so you guys have tickets?" i ask..."oh yes" they answer...do you?..."ummm noo" i sheepishly say. they look at eachother and say, well we have an extra ticket. front row seats. OMB! the woman's daughter gave the radio station the idea to hold this contest to get tickets to this, and as a result, she got front row seats!
as we were standing there waiting to go inside, the producer of the movie walked by...as the stalker i am, i recognized him immediately. "Jon M Chu!" i said..."yes" he said smiling. "I just wanted to say good luck with the premiere on the 11th. Its going to be great:)" we had a moment:)
So anyways...it was INCREDIBLE...the movie was awesome...and i got within 2 feet of JB...he was even more beautiful in person:) but everything about the night was sweet....his mom, grandparents, whole crew, body guard, LA Reid, and 2 rappers were there. he had a question and answer session afterwards.  I am so thankful to have gotten this opportunity tonight...the Lord was smiling on me tonight big time.

winter in gotham

so just a quick little recap since i've been back.
my new classes are incredible...timing could be better (they're all at night)...but the content is really practical and informative.

monday: develop your career 4-6
tues: acting w/ george loros 1:30-5:30; acting w/ lola cohen 6-10
wed. off
thurs: character work 1:30-3:30; physical technique 3:30-5:30; audition 6-10
friday: acting for film/tv 6-10

so last wednesday, i went to a screening of The Fighter and the director was there to answer questions about it afterwards and Spike Jones led the directions. It was so interesting...cuz Christian Bale is a method actor...and the director said that during the couch scenes, he was so in character, that he improvised all the dialogue! SO crazy!
This weekend was fun...friday, went for drinks with the girls from the Markle, and then Saturday, Emma and I went for coffee and talked for 3 hours! we had a lot to catch up on! And then that night we went out for Alessa's birthday with about 25 people from Strasberg...since we ate down in greenwich, we ended up going to all of my local spots:) it was fun...everyone was there! we stayed out until 4!
today, slept til 3, went running, to church, packers won, and i'm watching a movie with amanda, vicki and karen.
tuesday...to utah!

For the Bed-Ridden

Been back in the Big Apple for 4 days now, and boy a lot has happened. My body clock is kinda messed up though...you'll see why.
So I get back Thursday afternoon...go to the gym, hang out...the usual.
Friday...unpack...hit the gym...spend the day crafting cover letters to agents...make copies, then hit the pillow by 10...with the alarm set for 4:15am.
Saturday...wake up at 4:15 am...in Brooklyn by 5:30 for a sunrise shoot at 7...it was SO cold. Headline of the day: Caralyn smokes her first cigarette....well...mini cigar...they were supposed to be cigarettes. Anyway, I tasted burnt popcorn in my esophagus for the next 3 hours. We were finished by 10, and I was in my bed...FROZEN by 11:30...and I slept until 3pm. It took my until 4 to regain the feeling in my fingers and toes. Went to the gym, addressed 19 envelopes to agents...in bed by 10. Do it again tomorrow.
Sunday...wake up at 4:45am in Brooklyn by 6 for a sunrise shoot....the temperature had DROPPED and it was WINDY. Like...gale force wind...ok not really, but it was blowing hard. But I had dressed more appropriately. 6 layers with a down coat....i can only imagine how ridiculous the footage is going to look. Anyways...we wrapped by 9:30am and I was home in bed by 11. Slept until 2...gym, shower, church, and then a going away party for my friend and neighbor, Bec. She's moving back to Australia and we all took her out for drinks. We had a Ring Ceremony..which apparently in England and Australia is like a graduation-esk custom. So anyway, we had drinks at good old Flannigans...with a decorated hula hoop (the ring) with us.
Today, Monday...11:14...just facing the world. About to stuff the envelopes and go running...outside :-o... I have my first class of the new semester today from 4-6...Develop Your Career. I think I'll send out the envelopes BEFORE class, so that way, I won't second guess my instincts if she tells us not to "solicit agents" like I'm about to do. :) hehe
Alright well I hope, mom, that your back begins to get better...Too bad there are no more Glee episodes to watch:) I wish I could be there and keep you company.
Over and out from 10011.
